Pineville
Mayor Clarence Fields and Alexandria
Mayor Ned Randolph co-hosted a Mayors and Ministers Prayer
Breakfast, along with the Evangelical
Pastors' Fellowship of Central Louisiana on the National Day of
Prayer, Thursday May 2. Five mayors from Central Louisiana
participated in person (3 other mayors sent written greetings) along with
approximately area 50 pastors. The mayors brought greetings and
shared their concerns for their cities. At the close of the
breakfast the pastors gathered around the mayors to pray for them in a
sign of support. This is the second annual event hosted by Pineville and
Alexandria.

President Bubba Moreau (far right) in welcoming judges for the
annual "Cleanest City Contest". Pineville received a near
perfect score in advancing to state-wide competition, set for Monday,
May 6. Judges commented that Pineville was the cleanest city they
had judged thus far. Thanks to everyone who helped our city continue to
shine ... including the hard work of the Public Works Department, the
Pineville Key Club and the Alexandria Garden Club, who is our sponsor ...
and most of all, to our citizens who help keep Pineville beautiful year
round. Let's Take State! (Click on picture for larger view.)
The
City of Pineville has been named a Tree City USA, a designation from the
National Arbor Day Foundation in recognition of its commitment to an
effective, ongoing community forestry program.
The
official presentation of this national designation came at the city's Tree
Board planting event March 26th, at Huey P. Long Hospital. The first
project of the newly-appointed board was to landscape the two islands of
the boulevard leading from Main Street to the hospital. The Cleco
Corporation awarded a community grant to the Pineville Tree Board to
purchase three live oak trees and 48 crepe myrtles for the project.
