Lowe's Project Update back
Date of Record: August 11, 2008

It's hard to drive by the corner of Hwy. 165 North and the Pineville Expressway and not stare at the work going on around the future Lowe's Home Improvement Store. As quickly as the old Wal-Mart came down and was moved, the dirt work has moved along just as fast. Grading and infrastructure work continues (as seen in this photo, with StoneGate Condominiums in the background) as the 10-acre site takes shape. If things go according to plan, Lowe's should be able to start stocking their new store in early December, with an opening set for early February 2009.

Drivers must also be aware that Oakridge Road is CLOSED until the project is complete. Oakridge connected Military Highway to Hwy. 165, and is being completely rebuilt by Lowe's. This closure also affects the "right turn" entrance into Kings Country Village at the traffic signal, which will also remain closed while the new road is being built.

As you watch the construction progress, the City of Pineville hopes to soon announce additional transportation infrastructure improvements that will greatly enhance the movement of traffic around this highly congested traffic corridor.
