APPEAR IN COURT IN LOUISIANA

Louisiana law requires that any person wishing to drive or operate any vehicle upon any highway of this state must have a valid driver's license.

WHAT CAN YOUR LICENSE BE SUSPENSED FOR?

Your driver’s license can be suspended for the reasons listed below:

    1. Unpaid Traffic Violations
    2. Failure To Appear In Court

Traffic violations are listed in 3 categories:

    1. Written Promise
    2. In Lieu Of
    3. Out-of-State

A WRITTEN PROMISE is a citation wherein the violator agrees to appear in court on a designated date and time.

An IN LIEU OF affidavit indicates a traffic violation where the violator surrendered their license in lieu of posting bond.

An OUT-OF-STATE traffic violation is one issued to a Louisiana resident by a law enforcement officer in another state.

FAILURE TO PAY TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS ON TIME WILL RESULT IN YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE BEING SUSPENDED. A reinstatement fee up to $100.00 per traffic violation may be required to reinstate your driver’s license. A paid receipt showing proof that the traffic violation has been satisfied is also required.
