Pineville Jr. High cheerleaders earn 10th National Title
PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - Pineville Junior High School has built a reputation for success over the last decade, recently claiming its 10th national cheerleading title. This achievement is a result of hard work, discipline and a strong commitment to excellence.
Head Cheer Coach Robin Meynard explains their approach:
“We don’t accept ‘I can’t.’ We practice until we get it right—whether it’s once or 500 times. We keep going until we reach the standard we want.”
The cheerleaders know that all their efforts pay off in the end.
“Even though it’s tough at times, the hard work is worth it. You have to be a hard worker to succeed,” said Cheerleader Ayvah Norris.
The squad understands the expectations they face when performing under pressure.
Amaih Hayward, another cheerleader, shared, “Don’t show up to practice with laziness or a bad attitude. If you want to achieve something, you need to maintain a positive attitude and give your best effort.”
For those who may look up to them, the cheerleaders also offer advice.
“You need to work hard to get where you want to be. Don’t let bad attitudes hold you back, and always bring your best effort,” said Haven Mabou, another member of the team.
Coaches also maintain high standards for their athletes, ensuring they continue to perform at such a high level.
“From the moment they make the team, they know what’s expected of them,” Coach Meynard said. “We have great coaches and plenty of support. We expect them to give 100% every time.”
It is not just about winning titles - it is about learning life lessons along the way.
Assistant Coach Peyton Gunn shared, “The life lessons these kids learn are what make them better people overall. That’s the standard we set, and it’s what makes our program unique.”
Assistant Coach Brittyn Sanders added, “Setting a high standard at a young age helps these athletes when they get to high school. It makes their transition easier and makes coaching them even more rewarding.”
The PJHS cheerleading program continues to be a shining example of hard work, teamwork and perseverance, and it is clear that their success comes from both talent and a strong culture built over the years.
