WHO MAY BE SUED IN PINEVILLE CITY COURT?

The person or company being sued may be an individual, a sole proprietor, a partnership, a corporation or an incorporated association such as a club or association.
The person being sued is called the "DEFENDANT". In some cases there may be more than one defendant. It is important that you properly identify and sue the person or company who has caused you damage or injury.

For your suit to be filed in the proper "venue", the following general guidelines apply:
- If the defendant is an individual, his "domicile" (usually synonymous with "residence") should be within Wards 9, 10 or 11 of Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
- If the defendant is a corporation, its "registered agent/office" should be located within Wards 9, 10 or 11 of Rapides Parish, Louisiana (For this information, please contact the Louisiana Secretary of State, Corporation Division, phone 225-925-4704.
- If the defendant is an incorporated association, its principal business establishment should be located within Wards 9, 10 or 11 of Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
