The City of Pineville, Louisiana

A Great Place to Call Home

Citizen's Academy

The Citizen's Academy is a free program designed to give participants a working knowledge of the Pineville Police Department.  It is an educational and informative program that allows citizens the opportunity to learn about the issues that affect law enforcement efforts in the City of Pineville.

Citizen's Academy instruction consists of classroom lectures, interactive discussions and hands-on demonstrations focusing on various aspects of police work, including forensics, investigations, patrol and special response, among others.  The goal is simply to help the residents of Pineville better understand how the police work in the community, as the Academy reveals aspects of policing not generally known to the public.  Additionally, the objective is to strengthen bonds and develop relationships between citizens and police officers.

The Citizen's Academy is a free 21-hour course, presented in a series of ten classes, over a 5-week period.  The Academy is held one time each year in October.  Class size is restricted to 40 and participants must be at least 16-years old.  NOTE:  All applicants are subject to a criminal background check.

Generally all classes are held at the Tudor Community Center, located at 344 Bragg Street in Pineville.  Classes are held on Tuesday/Thursday, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with one exception on the Saturday participants visit the pistol range to shoot.
